The European Space Agency and Mistral announced on 23 September 2026 a letter of intent to deepen their cooperation in artificial intelligence. The document was signed in Paris on 16 September by Josef Aschbacher, ESA Director-General, and Arthur Mensch, Director-General of Mistral. The announced perimeter covers the processing of large volumes of Earth observation data, engineering analysis, access to knowledge and the automation of repetitive tasks. ESA indicates that when the tools are considered should remain at the service of technical decisions piloted by humans. Technological sovereignty is at the center of the communication.
